RISK MANAGEMENT – Jean-Michel Caffin takes on new role
Jean-Michel Caffin, a 30-year veteran in international trade and risk management, has teamed up with Axis & Co., a global business intelligence, corporate investigation and risk management firm, heading up their Americas division.
A resident of Miami since 1998, Jean-Michel previously ran various North American and Latin American divisions and subsidiaries of the British multinational group Inchcape/Intertek, as well as the Paris-based corporation Bureau Veritas.
Axis operates worldwide, chiefly on behalf of multinational corporations, from its three regional offices—Paris, Miami and Moscow. The companys mission is to provide its clients with tools, skills and strategic guidance to mitigate risks, respond to challenges and build a competitive advantage. Its core expertise lies in the search for and processing and/or protection of sensitive and strategic information.
COMMUNICATIONS – MTV Latin America hires Axel Escudero as communications director
MTV Networks Argentina, a unit of Viacom, appointed Axel Escudero director of corporate communications for MTV Networks Latin America, as part of the regionalization process for its operations. Based in Buenos Aires, Escudero will report to Linda Alexander, senior vice president of corporate communications and public affairs for MTV Networks Latin America based in Miami.
In this newly created position, Escudero will be responsible for overseeing MTVNLAs pan-regional media relations, as well as its internal and external communications for MTV Argentina. He will spearhead communications strategies across all lines of business for the companys three brands—MTV, VH1 and Nickelodeon/Nick @ Nite—and will be supported by a team of communications professionals in Argentina and throughout the region.
Prior to joining MTVNLA, Escudero was Director of Media Relations for Cervecera y Maltera Quilmes. Before that, he served as director of media relations for Pramer in Argentina, one of the most important television content producers in Latin America.
REAL ESTATE – CBRE promotes veteran Richard Tarquinio
CB Richard Ellis Group promoted Richard Tarquinio to senior vice president, responsible for enhancing the companys coverage of the investment sales market in South Florida. Based out of CBREs Palm Beach County office, Tarquinio will focus on the sale of investment-grade assets across all property types. He will help to expand CBREs investment sales market share in South
Florida.
In his 21 years with CBRE, Tarquinio has been involved in a wide range of investment sales transactions, totaling more than $1.6 billion. In 2007 alone, he has completed more than eight transactions in excess of $250 million. His recent transactions include the sale of Kendall Mall in Miami, The Outlets at Vero Beach in Vero Beach, The Shoppes at 441 in Royal Palm Beach, and The Shoppes at Coral Springs II and North Hills Plaza, both located in Coral Springs.

Global public relations firm Porter Novelli promoted Rodrigo Garcia-Nieto to head up its Florida operation, following the departure of Fernando Figueredo. As vice-president and office lead of Porter Novelli Florida, Garcia-Nieto is responsable of managing the business, business development, strategic account management, training and internal affairs of the agency. Also, he oversees all of the accounts in Florida and provides senior counsel to the responsible teams.
