LAN CARGO names Federico Germani COO
LAN CARGO appointed Federico Germani as Chief Operating Officer based at the companys global headquarters at Miami International Airport.
In his new position, Germani is responsible for optimizing the efficiency and operating performance of the company, including managing cargo-related airport operations, ensuring the network efficiency of the freighter fleet and optimizing the utilization of the large belly and freighter capacity throughout the network.
Germani has more than 15 years of experience in international business. He worked with IBM, Goldman Sachs and McKinsey & Co. prior to joining LAN, as vice president of planning. Most recently, Germani served as senior vice president for LAN CARGOs global operations.
Germani earned an Industrial Engineering degree from the Instituto Tecnologico de Buenos Aires, and has an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. LAN CARGO is the largest Latin American cargo company, providing air transport to more than 50 destinations in 20 countries. The airlines transports cargo in the bellies of LANs passenger aircraft, in its dedicated freighter fleet, in chartered freighters and in the bellies of other international airlines.

Luis Dominguez takes on global role for Unisys
For the past four years, Luis Dominguez has served as president of the Latin America and Caribbean Region for the IT giant Unisys Corporation. More recently, Dominguez was appointed vice president and general manager of Worldwide Regional operations. While retaining his responsibility for Latin America, from his Boca Raton base, he now oversees regional sales operations on a global basis.
Unisys, which has worldwide sales force of about 1,000 in 30 countries, registered global sales of $6 billion in 2006. Last year, WORLDCITY estimates that the companys Latin America and the Caribbean region accounted for more than $600 million in sales.
Prior to the promotion to his current dual role, Dominguez served as vice president and general manager of Unisys Global Infrastructure Services for Latin America. Immediately prior to that, he served as vice president and general manager of Unisys South Asia operations for four years, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There he was responsible for Unisys operations in the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Sir Lanka and several other Asian countries.

Hogan & Hartson named three Miami attorneys Brian Lerner, Julie Nevins, and Wanda Whigham as partners in the firm. Founded in Washington, D.C., Hogan & Hartson has more than 1,100 lawyers in 22 offices worldwide.
Lerner focuses his practice in commercial and corporate litigation, with extensive experience in labor and employment law in the firms Miami office. Lerner received his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law and his bachelors degree from the University of Michigan.
Nevins focuses her practice in complex commercial litigation. She practices in both state and federal courts and has handled arbitrations before various national arbitration tribunals. Nevins received her law degree from Florida State University College of Law. She received her bachelors degree from Vassar College.
Whigham focuses her practice on international finance and public finance, with emphasis on the acquisition, development and financing of energy projects, including the formation of special purpose entities, joint ventures and other corporate entities, in the firms Miami and West Palm Beach offices. Whigham received her law degree from the University of Miami School of Law and her bachelors degree from the University of Miami.
