Tatiana Tamayo hits the road two to three times a month, logging more than 110,000 air miles annually in her job with Pinkerton Consulting & Investigations as she flies throughout Mexico and the Caribbean and within Florida, as well identifying business opportunities for her company. Although she’s on the road for work she sometimes manages to grab time for herself, as she did on a recent trip to Cartagena, Colombia.

What are your most frequent destinations?

Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, New York, Atlanta and Orlando.

Which of them is your favorite?

Mexico, because there are many business opportunities for our company to develop in that country.

Do you have a business hotel that you always patronize?

The Nikko Hotel in Mexico City and the Santa Clara Hotel in Cartagena, Colombia.

What about restaurants?

La Catarina in Monterrey, Mexico; La Valentina in Mexico City; and La Paella Valenciana in Maracay, Venezuela.

What cell phone service do you use when traveling?

Sprint/Nextel it does work very well in Mexico and Venezuela, but it does not work in all my destinations.

How do you pass the time in flight?

Working on marketing presentations for prospect clients.

And what about in the airport?

Reading a book or magazine.

The Orlando airport.

Is there an airport you really dread?

Yes. The Simn Bolvar International Airport in Caracas.

What’s the coolest on-the-road service or innovation you’ve found?

Being able to pay parking with the Sunpass.

Are there any things about travel that really drive you crazy?

Delayed flights.

What’s the hardest thing about traveling on business?

Leaving your family.

Not too much luggage only carry-on.
