It's a fact: Algeria, Angola, Chile, UAE, Austria are fastest-growing

April 10th, 2007

The five fastest-growing trade partners among the Top 50 in 2006 were not necessarily front-of-mind countries: Algeria, Angola, Chile, United Arab Emirates and Austria.

The United States has a growing trade deficit with four of the five, the United Arab Emirates being the exception.

Algeria and Angola have oil, Chile has a free trade agreement with the United States as well as ever-more-expensive minerals like copper and nickel, the United Arab Emirates has a lot of money and is buying a lot of Boeing jets and Austria, which saw the value of cars sent to the United States triple to more than $1.9 billion.
