American Airlines said it is hiring 80 people to add to its 9,894 employees in Miami-Dade County.

The company is seeking 80 full-time, home-based reservations representatives. It will begin a seven-week training program for interested candidates on March 18 at its Miami International Airport cargo facilities.

Candidates must be 18 years or older, have a GED or high school diploma, and live within a 75-mile radius of Miami International Airport.

The hiring comes as the Dallas-based carrier restructures operations under protection from creditors in U.S. Bankruptcy Court and mulls a merger, possibly with US Airways.

American recently unveiled a new red-white-and-blue logo and new exterior on its planes. The airline dominates traffic at Miami International Airport.
