Travel Leaders Group, a leading travel agency network, named Humberto “Bert” Rivero as vice president of strategic planning and implementation, based in Coral Gables

A 30-year travel industry veteran, Rivero comes to the group from the International Air Transport Association, where he served as regional director for the Americas since October 2004. In that role, he managed $21 billion of airline member sales through the bank settlement program in the Americas. He also was responsible for the International Airline Travel Agent Network in the United States, promoting accreditation to its more than 100,000 members.

Rivero began his career in the airline industry, working for such carriers as Korean, Eastern, Continental, BWIA and United. More recently, he served as American Airlines’ managing director for the Caribbean.

Travel Leaders Group, based in Minneapolis, traces its roots to Carlson travel agencies. Today, its network unites TraveLeaders, Tzell Travel Group, Nexion, Vacation.com and others to handle leisure, business and franchise travel operations. Sales last year topped $10 billion, the group said.
