Maria Cristina de la Vega, president of Coral Gables-based ProTranslating, has been elected to the board of directors of the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators.
The association, founded in 1978, is the premier organization for interpreters and translators working in the judicial and law-enforcement systems. It advocates for the rights of limited English-proficient individuals in the courts to receive the services of qualified and professional interpreters and translators.
De la Vega has been active with the association for more than five years. She is a certified Spanish to English and English to Spanish interpreter and serves on the association’s bar and bench committee to help educate attorneys and judges on how to best work with interpreters.
ProTranslating provides translation, interpretation and other language solutions to corporations, law firms and individuals worldwide. Founded in 1973, it offers more than 100 in-house linguists and a network of 3,000 freelancers working in 100 languages.
De la Vega, who co-founded the company, is active in WorldCity’s CEO Club. She holds an MBA from Florida International University.
