Patrick Goddard has been named president and chief operating officer of Trust Hospitality, a months-old Miami company born from the merger of Tecton Hospitality and Ocean Blue Hospitality.

He replaces Tecton’s Raul Leal, who left to become president and COO of Virgin Hotels, the new hotel unit of the Virgin Group led by entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson.

Goddard is a 15-year hotel industry veteran fluent in English, French and Spanish. He most recently led hospitality consulting firm Ocean Blue, which advised such companies as The Trump Group and Hard Rock Hotels.

He also has held positions with Conrad hotels in Europe, Rosewood resorts in the United States and Caribbean and Loews in the US, working in such varied areas as sales, rooms and food and beverage.

Goddard earned his bachelor’s degree from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland and hospitality management degree from the Dublin Institute of Technology.

Trust has 22 hotels in its portfolio, operating them independently or under such brands as Hilton, Starwood, InterContinental and Marriott. It runs one resort in China’s Harbin, has several hotels soon to open in Colombia and also is working on an airport hotel in Haiti.

The company also has management deals in the works for hotels in China and Panama, according to media reports.
