John Bauer, president and CEO of Fort Lauderdale-based Basic Food International Inc., has been appointed to the U.S. Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee.
The committee advises the Secretary of Agriculture and the U.S. Trade Representative concerning negotiating objectives and bargaining positions before entering a trade agreement, operating existing agreements and other trade policy issues.
Bauer, who is to serve a four-year term, will serve alongside executives from PepsiCo Inc. and Cargill Inc. as well as representatives of such industry groups as the Dairy Farmers of America and the National Corn Growers Association.
