Jorge Vasseur has been named general manager for 12 countries in northern Latin America for Baxter Export Corp., based in Miami.
Vasseur joined healthcare products company Baxter in 2006 as vice president for its medication delivery business in Latin America, overseeing strategy and market development for the division.
After earning an MBA from the University of Miami in 1997, Vasseur joined GE Healthcare as product marketing manager for Latin America. He rose to run commercial operations for GE Healthcare’s service division in 2000 and two years later, became general manager of that $80 million-a-year service business in Latin America.
In 2005, Vasseur was promoted to GE Healthcare’s general manager of sales for the U.S. Southeast, responsible for an area with $300 million in sales a year.
Baxter reported 2010 sales of $12.8 billion and roughly 47,600 employees worldwide. It obtained 12 percent of those sales from Latin America and Canada, where it employed about 7,050 people last year.
