Wolf F. Kupatt has been named corporate vice president and president of Baxter Latin America and Canada, based in Fort Lauderdale.
His area of responsibility spans operations in 17 countries, more than 7,200 employees, seven manufacturing facilities, and a product portfolio representing all of Baxter’s medical products and bio-science business units.
Kupatt assumed the position in October. Before that, he was general manager of Baxter’s German operations, the health care company announced.
Before joining Baxter in 2007, Kupatt served as vice president, Primary Care, Germany, for Bristol-Myers Squibb since 2002. Between 1989 and 2002, he held a variety of senior management roles for the Roche group in Germany, Ecuador and Colombia.
Kupatt received a degree in medicine from the University of Bonn in Germany in 1986. He has been a member of the board of directors of the BPI Pharmaceutical Industry Association since 2007.
For 2010, Baxter posted sales of $12.8 billion and about 47,600 employees. Its Latin America and Canada region represented 12 percent of total sales, the company said.
