International law firm DLA Piper, which entered the Miami market in March, added five lawyers with significant global practices to its Miami office. 

Carlos Loumiet, and John Haley joined the firm as partners in the corporate practice,  Craig Rasile and Andrew Zaron as partners in the bankruptcy practice and Michael Silva as partner in the tax practice. All came from law firm Hunton & Williams LLP, where they were partners in the Miami office.

Loumiet had co-chaired Hunton & Williams’  international practice group. He focuses on business and financial services, with cases that have involved mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, venture capital and infrastructure projects. He holds a JD law degree and bachelor's of arts from Yale University. He also earned a BA in Jurisprudence from Oxford University,

Haley represented clients in cross-border transactions including project finance, mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, stock and bond offerings and other finance deals. He holds a J.D. from Fordham University and BA from the University of Chicago.

Rasile was co-chair of the Bankruptcy, Restructuring and Creditors’ Rights practice at Hunton & Williams. He holds a JD from University of Miami.

Zaron also focuses on bankruptcy, workouts, debt restructuring, corporate reorganization and creditors' rights. He holds a JD from the University of Florida and BS in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Silva led Hunton & Williams’ International Private Wealth Advisors practice. He concentrates on international tax law, including cross-border tax issues, tax treaty planning and U.S. activities of foreign banks. He holds a JD and a master's in accounting from the University of Florida.

DLA Piper launched its Miami office with international arbitration lawyers Pedro J. Martinez-Fraga and C. Ryan Reetz, formerly of  law firm Squire Sanders & Dempsey LLP in Miami.
