Celistics' Maxim Weitzman
Celistics, a cellphone distribution and logistics company active in Spain and Latin America, named Maxim Weitzman as vice president for marketing and communications, based in South Florida.

Weitzman is responsible for marketing in 15 countries for Spain-based Celistics and for its new unit Movilway, which lets customers pre-pay into accounts on their cellphones and use the phones to pay bills such as electricity or government fees.

Weitzman said his priority in the new position “is making Celistics and Movilway authentic brands, recognized as leaders in their fields.”

His biggest challenge: “Building a top-notch marketing team in 15 countries, because at the end of the day, a company is just a bunch of people working together,”  he said.

Before joining Celistics, Weitzman was vice president of marketing at Telefonica USA, the US and Latin America unit of Spain’s phone giant Telefonica. He previously held executive positions with IBM Latin America, was chief executive with product development venture Intrigo and worked with Venezuela’s food and beverage company Polar Group.

Weitzman earned a BS in industrial engineering from the Andres Bello Catholic University in Venezuela and an MBA from the UCL Anderson Graduate School of Management, where he was elected director of the Entrepreneur Association and received the Larry Wolfen Entrepreneurial Spirit Award Fellowship.

Outside of work, he enjoys running triathlons.
