Private Jet Charter, an independent private jet charter broker and consultant, is opening an office in Fort Lauderdale to serve as its hub for the United States and Canada. It is the fifth office in the company’s network that also includes London, Nice, Dubai and Moscow, an announcement said.

Chief Executive Hugh Courtenay said site selection initially focused on Las Vegas or Chicago, but the 20-year-old charter company chose Fort Lauderdale for its executive airport, one of the busiest in the United States, and because of assistance from economic development groups in the area.

Private Jet Charter is opening its new office at 401 East Las Olas Boulevard in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Stiles Realty helped with the office search, Coldwell Banker with residential relocation and Behar Law Group with corporate and immigration legal counsel, according to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, Broward County’s economic development group.

Private Jet Charter now employs two people in Fort Lauderdale but plans to employ six within 18 months. It plans to invest an initial $200,000 in the South Florida office, the company said.
