Medical equipment distributor Exim America MIA-IMEX is doubling its space at the Miami Free Zone to 15,000 square feet, just six months after opening at the logistics center.
The Doral-based company is adding three warehouses, a showroom and mezzanine office at the free zone as its business grows. It imports medical equipment made in Europe and China by such brands as GE, Steris, Amsino, Mindray, and Sechrist from Europe and exports the products to Latin America.
Operating in a U.S. foreign trade zone or free zone means the company does not pay import taxes on goods bound for re-export. The Miami Free Zone has helped the import-export business with “efficiency, ease, and affordable pricing,” Chief Financial Officer Stephen Callaghan said in a statement.
