Express delivery company FedEx Express named Julio C. Barrionuevo as senior vice president of operations for Mexico, Central America and Caribbean.
He is based in Miami within the FedEx Express Latin America and Caribbean division headquarters.
Barrionuevo had been senior vice president and chief financial officer at FedEx Express International, based in Memphis, Tenn. In that position, he led an organization of more than 2,300 employees responsible for financial functions for operations in Asia, Europe, Canada and Latin America.
From 2001 to 2010, he was vice president of finance for the Latin America and Caribbean division.
Barrionuevo has more than 33 years experience in aviation, highway transportation, global express distribution and logistics. He also has held key positions in finance, operations and engineering with Ryder System and Eastern Airlines.
During his time with FedEx, Barrionuevo has received numerous awards. He was recognized with the FedEx Five-Star Award on five occasions. He also was named by Hispanic Business magazine among the “100 of the Most Influential Hispanics” of 2005, to name just some honors.
Barrionuevo holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Miami and a master’s of business administration from Florida International University. He has served on several philanthropic committees and boards including the United Way of Dade County.
The Latin America and Caribbean division of FedEx Express employs 17,000 people and serves more than 50 countries and territories.
